<image:caption>Anxiety and depression can wreak havoc on our lives when it persists for longer periods of time, keeps us from engaging with life, gets in the way of our activities, or impairs our ability to function from day-to-day. Talking to a therapist can clarify the areas of our life where these symptoms are most problematic and discover effective strategies to overcome them successfully.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Stress, overwhelm, & life transitions</image:title>
<image:caption>Feeling pulled in so many directions can make you feel like you’re not giving your best to anything. When we experiencing constant stress, overwhelm, or changes in our lives, it can make you feel like your emotions are all over the place and hard to manage. Life transitions can potentially trigger old wounds, bring on new symptoms, create new worries, or leave us feeling uncertain of which direction to take. Talking to a therapist can help sort out the stressors, prioritize strategies for change, create a path forward for decision making, and formulate a plan for managing emotional distress and calming fears.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Trauma</image:title>
<image:caption>Trauma therapy combines different approaches and techniques to help lessen, even eliminate, the painful mental and physical responses raised by the memory of traumatic events, and seeks to create new healthier patterns in your brain. I offer a variety of therapeutic approaches to best support you and work with you as an equal collaborator in your treatment and healing. It’s my goal to identify the source and triggers of your emotional and physical suffering, to discuss ways to deal with unhelpful and unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and to teach you techniques to manage distress and enable you to move forward.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Therapists & Medical Professionals</image:title>
<image:caption>You got into this line of work to help people. And now you find yourself asking, who is here to help me? Even being armed with years of experience, training, clinical skill, and in depth knowledge to intervene in ways that often produce impactful, rewarding, and life changing results for the clients you work with, you are not immune to moments of confusion, uncertainty, self-doubt, and despair. The socialization of helpers and healers often leave very little room to be human or vulnerable and share your hurts or seek out care when you need it. I am here to walk with you on your journey towards personal and professional exploration, healing, and fulfillment.</image:caption>

<image:title>Therapist - A bit about my training, education, and experience:</image:title>
<image:caption>My professional journey began after receiving my Bachelor of Social Work degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I then went on to complete my Master of Social Work degree at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, where my super independent-dive-in-head-first younger self suddenly realized home-sickness was an actual thing! My experiences include direct clinical work, advocacy, case management, lactation consulting, university teaching, and managing mental health services across multiple medical clinics in two counties as part of a senior leadership team. My commitment to evidence-based practice and high-tough client-centered care led me to receive my PhD from the Joint Programs of Social Work at North Carolina A&T State University and UNC-Greensboro. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, DC.</image:caption>

<image:title>Therapist - Outside the therapy room:</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a creative soul and an outlier – and I embrace those descriptors fully! I bring humor, creativity, and an insatiable zest for joy to my work. My perspective, worldview, and respect for all people from all walks of life have been influenced by my own trauma-healing journey and my multicultural upbringing and family life. I love the outdoors, gardening, reading too many books simultaneously, and I thrive in bright sunny places. In my free time, you’ll find me exploring, laughing, walking, creating, journaling, researching, and having loads of fun with my three kiddos, hanging out with friends and family, and enjoying time with my hubby of 17 years. Also, coffee and dark chocolate are my super-foods!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Approach - What are some reasons for using telehealth?</image:title>
<image:caption>Do you need support, but can’t make it to an in-person appointment? Are you a busy professional, caregiver, or parent, and don’t have the time to drive across town for an appointment? Do you live in a more rural area or across the state where an online therapy session makes the most sense? Or, maybe you prefer the ease, convenience, and added confidentiality to just do things Virtually? If so, we can help you through virtual therapy, or telehealth.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Approach - How does it work?</image:title>
<image:caption>Telehealth allows us to provide counseling and therapy to you through live video conferencing. This can be done anywhere you have a computer or smartphone. Telehealth appointments can be very beneficial if getting to a traditional in-person appointment is not convenient, or you simply just don’t want to. Our telehealth solution allows you to schedule an appointment directly online and have the entire therapy session take place digitally.</image:caption>
